Per Scholas helps the unemployed residents of Central Ohio break into the booming tech hub of Columbus with its free IT-Ready job training courses. Per Scholas Columbus will train 80 individuals in its first year equipping local residents with the in-demand IT job skills and certifications to fulfill the jobs that exist in the local tech economy. Nationally, Per Scholas has been recognized as one of America’s top performing nonprofit organizations according to the S&I 100 Index. Locally, our Power Philanthropy Portrait with the Columbus Foundation was just released where you can learn more about our vision, goals and outcomes.
The next class will begin July 2013. Per Scholas will begin accepting applications for its 12-week IT-Ready course in the near future. Keep reading to learn how to apply.
OVERVIEW
All Per Scholas courses, no matter where they operate, combine three essential components:
• High quality, hands-on technical skills training led by certified and experienced instructors, with a curriculum designed to help students achieve passage of professional certification exams in an accelerated and thorough format.
• Extensive “soft skills” instruction, including job-seeking skills (resume preparation, interviewing and job negotiation); and workplace skills (teamwork, communication, presentation, customer service, etc.). Employers tell us that these skills are as important as technical proficiency in the people they actually hire.
• Ongoing, individualized support for job placement, personal and career development. We employ professional, dedicated and experienced job developers and counselors to deliver these services leading to a consistent 80-percent post-training job placement rate.
All courses and services are free thanks to the support of our private and corporate supporters. Get a first-hand account of the Per Scholas training experience through our Student of the Month features.
