About Computer Asset Recovery

Per Scholas offers a comprehensive computer asset recovery service used by over 150 corporations, government agencies and other nonprofits. Clients include Con Edison, Estee Lauder, Fox Cable News, MasterCard Worldwide and Metro North. By donating end of life computer and other technology equipment to Per Scholas, your organization can further Per Scholas’ mission of harnessing technology to improve the lives of people in low-income communities through its computer technician training program and its digital inclusion and computer distribution programs such as Comp2Kids and Access.

With more than 10 years experience in collecting, handling and processing end of life electronic equipment, the Per Scholas team can guarantee that your donation will fully support your corporate philanthropy goals while satisfying all the business, legal and environmental obligations you face when disposing of computers and other technology equipment.

Per Scholas Asset Recovery Service delivers a total solution consisting of:

Convenient Pick-Up and Secure Transport—Trained personnel will pick up technology assets from one or more locations and deliver them directly to a secure location for registration and processing.

Asset Tracking and Reporting- Per Scholas provides an automated tracking system for all your IT equipment so its status and ultimate disposition can be monitored. Reports will be delivered electronically to your organization.

Data Destruction and Security- Per Scholas services include certified data removal by trained personnel with custom software and systems that verify complete data destruction on your donated equipment. Tailored solutions for your individual data destruction needs are available. Any identifying marks on your equipment are removed before it is redeployed by Per Scholas.

Maximize Value—Per Scholas proficiency in collecting and refurbishing computer equipment suited to its mission ensures that your donations have the greatest impact. We recondition your retired computers to extend their useful life for years and then distribute them to students, seniors and other individuals with compelling needs for computers. To date, computer donations to Per Scholas have connected over 80,000 residents to home computers and trained 3,000 low income adults to obtain high-wage jobs in the technology field.

Eliminate Environmental Liability- Any equipment which can not be reconditioned and reused in Per Scholas’ programs will be disposed of in an environmentally compliant manner. This equipment will be sorted and delivered to approved recyclers with full capability to recycle plastics, metals and other components, keeping tons of e-waste out of landfills. These recyclers are audited to confirm compliance with applicable federal, state and local environmental laws.

Mobilized for Growth- In June 2010, Per Scholas partnered with Redemtech Inc. of Ohio to expand its capacity to collect and refurbish more computers and reach more people in more cities. Redemtech operates e-Stewards certified facilities throughout the United States at which it refurbishes large volumes of aging IT equipment for more than 100 of the Fortune 1000 companies.
