About the partnership

Comcast NBCUniversal invests in Per Scholas to help individuals build the skills they need for successful careers in technology. Through this partnership, Per Scholas will prepare more than 10,000 diverse adults for careers in tech across at least 15 Comcast markets over the next three years. Comcast NBCUniversal’s prior catalytic digital equity investments have also enabled Per Scholas to: 

  • Scale Per Scholas’ tuition-free remote learning operations and train 1,000 individuals in Atlanta, Baltimore, Greater Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, the National Capital Region, Newark, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Seattle for in-demand technology jobs 
  • Facilitate career support services, financial coaching, technology toolkits, and networking opportunities with a variety of Fortune 500 hiring partners
  • Power an ambitious expansion of Per Scholas training to Philadelphia and Chicago
  • Implement Per Scholas’ Tech Career Exploration program to create career pathways for young people in 20 high schools throughout New York City
  • Foster a national dialogue about increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in the tech workforce through the support of our Diverse by Design conversation series

Per Scholas Included as 2023 Red Nose Day Grantee Partner

On May 25th, Red Nose Day returns for its 9th official year, and Per Scholas is excited and honored to have been selected as one of this year’s grantee partners! Red Nose Day is an annual fundraising event held by Comic Relief US that seeks to raise life-changing funds to help end the cycle of poverty and ensure children are safe, healthy, educated, and empowered across the U.S. and around the world.

Comcast NBCUniversal Features Per Scholas Graduate, Ampire Ndusha, in 2021 Impact Report

Per Scholas graduate, Ampire Ndusha, was featured in Comcast NBCUniversal's 2021 Impact Report. As a Per Scholas partner, Comcast NBCUniversal mentioned the impact Per Scholas has had in the tech community, especially with Ampire. With his training, Ampire acquired CompTIA A+ and Google IT Support certifications and also soft skills such as writing a resume and interviewing. Now, Ampire is a network design engineer at Comcast in Cincinnati.

Seven Funders Look to the STARs to Advance Economic Mobility and Racial Equity

With growing awareness of the disparate impact labor market practices have on STARs, this funding round affirms the promise of a STARs-centered approach to address both economic mobility and race equity. Importantly, we are dedicating a portion of this funding to support STARs-focused initiatives in partnership with organizations such as Per Scholas and the SkillUp Coalition.
