An accomplished musician and producer, David Byard always aspired for a career in technology. The pandemic created a perfect storm; a job loss, a hunger for a sustainable career, and a referral to train tuition-free at Per Scholas Philadelphia. In 2020, David completed his IT Support training and earned both his CompTIA A+ certification and Google IT Support Certificate and, through Per Scholas employer partner TEKsystems, landed his first tech support contract. He went on to work as a successful contractor on projects for companies including Comcast, Jefferson Health, and Five Below.

In April 2022, David was invited to join Per Scholas’ prestigious Instructor Academy, and a year later, David now serves as a Teaching Fellow for Per Scholas Philadelphia – training and supporting aspiring technologists, just like himself, in the city he proudly calls home.
