Dominic Rasich
I like tech, but I am also creative, so I see myself potentially incorporating the two. I don’t want to stagnate at one job for too long... I want to find something that really resonates with me, and Per Scholas helps with that.

For a long time, Dominic Rasich felt like he was standing still. While he had a natural knack for technology—acting as the unofficial tech support for his family’s hardware hiccups—his daily life lacked a clear direction.
“Before Per Scholas, I wasn’t really doing much with my life,” Dominic admits. “Maybe helping my family with tech-related issues or various tasks once in a while. Nothing stable or consistent.”
The realization that he needed a change didn’t come from a sudden bolt, but from a quiet understanding that he was capable of more. He knew he couldn’t sustain a lifestyle of squandered potential forever.
“I was seeking a change in my life because things had gotten stale,” he says. “I knew it was time to grow up and become a functioning member of society.”
When Dominic joined Per Scholas Los Angeles, he quickly realized that the technical curriculum was the easy part. The real challenge was the transition to a professional mindset—the structure, teamwork, and corporate hierarchy he had never experienced before.
“The tech side wasn’t the issue for me; it was everything else. Professionalism, routine, ability to work in groups, and do things the right way, and follow procedure. I struggled with those at first, but eventually, I think I finally adapted.”
Though he describes himself as someone who wasn’t exactly a social butterfly, Dominic found a unique sense of belonging within his cohort. The classroom became a place of humor and subtle connections that made the transition to professional life feel less like a chore and more like a community.
“It was fun. We had a few inside jokes with our cohort, and if you look closely, you might still see them on the whiteboard,” he reflects. On his very last day, he even shared a bonding moment with a classmate over a shared love for a favorite show: “A moment he calls a nod to the creative interests that he brought with him into the tech world.
The result of that 12-week shift was a total transformation of his daily reality. After earning his CompTIA A+ certification, Dominic traded inconsistent odd jobs for a stable position at East West Bank.
Currently working at the service desk, Dominic spends his days imaging computers and performing critical maintenance on devices that keep the bank’s infrastructure running.
“Career-wise, I’ve grown okay with the routine of working a tech job because of the program,” Dominic notes.
The impact of Dominic’s success has reached far beyond. For his family, seeing him transition into a steady career was the ultimate proof of his growth.
While Dominic has mastered the art of the 9-to-5, his creative spark hasn’t dimmed. He sees his current role not as a final destination, but as a stable foundation for a future where he can merge his technical skills with his artistic side.
“I am not entirely sure [where I see myself]. I like tech, but I am also creative, so I see myself potentially incorporating the two,” he reflects. “I don’t want to stagnate at one job for too long… I want to find something that really resonates with me, and Per Scholas helps with that.”
Dominic’s journey is a powerful reminder that Per Scholas does more than teach tech—it builds the professional bridge between potential and a high-impact career. Dominic didn’t just land a job; he shattered expectations and found the steady footing he needed to finally pursue his creative future.
