In-person learning takes place at one of our facilities across the US.

Remote learners must live within commutable distance of a Per Scholas campus to best facilitate our professional development and post-training employment support. For individuals who live outside of a commutable distance, you may be eligible for our National training courses.

Level-Up your career with a CompTIA Network+ Certification

This Accelerated Network+ Alumni course will run for 8 weeks, 14 hours per week. Sessions are fully remote on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, culminating in the CompTIA Network+ Certification Exam.

Throughout this course, learners will continue to sharpen their technical skills through activities simulating real world security scenarios, performing networking research, and class discussions of current events. Learners will take several practice assessments and will work in groups to understand and explore CompTIA question styles and test taking strategies.

Time Since Graduation

You must have completed a prior Per Scholas course, and you become eligible to take this course 45 days after graduation.

Availability

All course sessions are mandatory, so you must be able to meet the time commitment of the following schedule:

Evening & Saturday:
Weeknights: 6 PM EST – 9 PM EST
Saturdays: 10 AM EST – 3 PM EST

Frequently Asked Questions

What if completed my initial training but did not pass the CompTIA exam?

You may be eligible for a retest voucher if you failed your exam by less than 50 points. Please connect with your instructor for details. Alternatively, we are creating pathways for alumni to obtain a Google IT Professional equivalency. Details will be announced and shared via the alumni slack channel and email communication.

What is Phase II (Graduate)?

Phase II begins upon course completion and typically lasts 4-6 months. The primary focus of phase II is to celebrate graduates, connect with a robust peer and employer network, and securing employment.

How do I find out who my business solutions manager is?

Refer to the “resources directory” in the Alumni Handbook.

What is a “collective learning cohort”?

Collective learning opportunities are self-guided skill enhancing courses that range between 35 hours – 9months. Alumni learners are supported instructor lead office hours*, alumni subject matter experts and other alumni community driven resources.

Will I receive an exam voucher for completing a collective learning course?

At this time we are unable to provide testing vouchers. We encourage you to connect with your professional development and support manager to discuss ways to leverage your new skills in the workplace.

How do I apply for collective learning (self-guided) classes?

Collective learning enrollments happen the first and 3rd week of each month. Registration details can be found in the alumni handbook and slack channel.

Can I take more than 1 class at a time?

No, you cannot be enrolled in more than one Per Scholas at a time.

What if I don’t finish my alumni course?

Before you make the decision to withdraw, connect with your instructor (or applicable resource team member) to discuss how to better navigate the barrier. If it is collectively  decided, you may defer to a later class. Conversely you risk a 120 day freeze in enrollment eligibility.

If a collective learning course is self-paced, why are there office hours?

“Office Hours” are designed to answer any questions you may in regard to the material and to build your confidence in articulating your new skill set.   Our certified instructors will cover dedicated material from the certification program and answer individual questions from students who are getting stuck at certain points in the curriculum. Alumni learners are prompted to submit questions before each session to ensure they get the most out of each office hours session.

Will collective learning courses reflect on my transcript?

No, only instructor-led certificate-bearing courses will be reflected on your Per Scholas transcript. It is recommended that you keep a copy of your records.

I took a non-cert bearing course, how do I qualify for alumni classes?

Completing the IT Fundamentals course via IBM SkillsBuild may be used in place of the Google IT Support certificate or CompTIA A+.

What is Phase III (Alumni)?

Phase III offers continued up-skilling opportunities by way of instructor lead certificate-bearing courses. 

 

Phase III Checklist:

Can I sign up for an instructor-led course immediately after securing employment?

We do not advised participating in training if you may be unable to complete the course as intended. Connect with your support manager & professional development coach to discuss time management techniques and build a plan of when upskilling is most appropriate.

How do I register for alumni courses?

Registration forms are pinned to the top of the alumni slack channel, the alumni handbook, alumni course pages on perscholas.org (like this page), and you can request a form by contacting [email protected].

I didn’t receive a slack invite. What should I do?

Slack invites are sent from [email protected] please check your spam folder for good measure. You can also request access by emailng the address above.

What if I don’t meet the network + pre-requisites.

Alumni Learners may now take the IT Fundamentals course to meet the requirements. If you have earned a qualifying certificate (Google IT professional, CompTIA A+, AWS cloud practitioner) please submit a copy of your certificate here.
