Farquleet Fajar, who is originally from Pakistan, discovered her interest in tech in high school, after taking a computer class. She decided to pursue a career in IT, and eventually chose Cybersecurity as her field of interest.

Farquleet took a Cybersecurity course at Year Up, and was recommended to take a course at Per Scholas to further prepare her for pursuing Cybersecurity. Farquleet was accepted into Per Scholas NCR’s Cybersecurity course. She enjoyed her time in the course, and was particularly impressed by her teachers.

“The teachers were amazing,” Farquleet recalled. “They were so helpful and supportive…Beyond training, they would provide us with materials for free. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone in the class was learning and having a good experience…A lot of things we learned at Per Scholas, you can directly apply to your job experience. We got great hands-on experience, and learned a lot about different fields of Cybersecurity.”

Farquleet also found the professional development portion of the course to be very helpful, and was able to directly utilize the skills she learned to nail the interview for her current position. After graduating, Farquleet did a 6-month internship at Splunk, and then was selected to join the Splunk team as a full-time employee. She now works as a Customer Trust Analyst at Splunk, and is also taking night classes in order to complete a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, which she believes will maximize the growth potential of her career.

Farquleet would like to complete her bachelor’s degree with a high GPA, gain more Cybersecurity certifications and knowledge about the field, and eventually earn a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity. She is excited to grow within her career and learn as much as possible going forward.
