Per Scholas advances as a finalist in $10 million dollar Economic Opportunity Challenge

Per Scholas is one of five finalists that will advance in the Economic Opportunity Challenge, a competition for a $10 million grant to improve economic opportunity for low-income individuals within the United States. We partnered with MDRC and The Financial Clinic, Creators of Change Machine for this proposal which was selected from a pool of 160 applicants, representing our work focused on workforce development, asset building, and policy.

The Pandemic Has Accelerated Demands for a More Skilled Work Force

Throughout the first half of the year, the coronavirus rapidly upended and altered the American #workforce across industries and causing drastic economic changes on the local and national level. Retraining and workforce development efforts such as Per Scholas are prepared to equip new talent to meet new employment demands accelerated by the pandemic.

Per Scholas in Road Trip Nation, “To Be Determined”

Last year, our very own Per Scholas alumnus Taiheem Wentt was chosen to participate in a very special experience: Along with two fellow workforce development program alumni, he traveled the country with Roadtrip Nation to interview software engineers, CEOs, political campaign managers, and more, all of whom kickstarted their careers through a workforce development program.

Robert Aufiero enrolled in our 12-week course in Cloud Computing computing with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which launched last month at our Per Scholas Greater Boston and Per Scholas National Capital Region facilities. He was looking to start a career that offered more stability and career opportunities.
